Home with Pictures

I'll keep the narrative to a minimum & just throw up some pictures with captions...I have 5 pounds of papers waiting to be graded, an assignment description to write, and since I agreed to teach a writing intensive class next semester, a whole series of proposals to write for the gen ed committee next week (I didn't realize this when I agreed to teach the class).

Jim and I got in on Thursday night, walked to a nearby diner for dinner, & headed to SFSU for the opening cerimonies for the conference...open bar! Ran into Marcy, Dr. Bill, & some ECU people. Jim and I left before the keynote, walked about 1 1/2 miles & finally picked up the bus back to the hotel.

"Shuttles" picked us up at 7:15 am on Friday, scheduled to take us back to the hotel at 9:30 pm. Someone look up the word "shuttle" in the dictionary please, 'cause I assumed it had to do with a bus shuttling back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Not so much.

Okay, pictures...Here's Marcy and Jim celebrating national coming out day with a rousing game of giant twister...

The famous Dr. Bill...

Paul joined us for a beer before the buffet Friday night...
it took very little arm-twisting to get him to crash the buffet...

A wild time was had by all, especially by Marcy who drank this much beer...

After the business meeting on Saturday we headed into the city, which was about an hour away by public transport...first stop was lunch at Annabelle's at Union Square. Bit of walking and a VERY CROWED bus ride later & we found ourselves at Fisherman's Wharf, where we had strangers take our picture overlooking Alcatraz...

And, of course, we saw (and smelled) the seals...

many, many seals

Marcy left us there to get ready for dinner with Dr. Bill, and
Jim and I hooked up with two of his friends, Ussama and
Melissa, new Apple transplants to San Fran....And we walked south...way south...Here's a shot south of the city...they're posing catalogue-model style...

About 4 hours of walking later and we ended up very, very north of the city. Here's a shot I took from the overpass, just a few blocks from their home...we were both exhausted, but they stuffed us with wine, beer, and delicious cheese before a lovely dinner of Indian takeout...then at 11, Jim and I caught a cab home & arranged for our driver, Mike, to pick us up at 4am sharp for the airport.

Would have been nice to stay longer and really explore the city, but someone was very happy to see me (and his frisbee)...P.S. I understand Amy R's dog had a blog...be on the lookout for some of Trouble's forthcoming podcasts...

Ok, again, how is someone else posting comments on this? Creepy. But anyway, great pictures. I especially like your documentation of Marcy's drinking. Glad to hear all went well. Did you board Trouble?

Umm, having missed a year of your lives, there is certain information that we're not privvy to out here in the West.

So the question on all Central Washingtonians' minds is, "Who's Dr. Bill?"

Dr. Bill is my former advisor from Northern Iowa. He's been recruiting me to apply to a position at his school (Saginaw Valley in Michigan) for about 2 years now. :)

Love the pic of Marcy and Jim celebrating national coming out day. San Fan on NCOD, that's like a trip to Isreal for Passover to my people!
