Diss Proposals = Pure Evil
Yes, Nikki, I share your sentiment. This diss proposal is going to be the end of me. For those of you who remember my comps saga, it will come as no surprise to learn that I have completed 2 drafts of my diss proposal only to have my advisor return with more comments asking me to review other lit reviews for help with mine. Not other diss prop lit reviews, mind you, PUBLISHED ARTICLE LIT REVIEWS!!! Does that sound a little over the top or is it me?
So, I am up to my neck in grading that has to be done before Thursday, trying to get research done with a prof for a conference in 2.5 weeks, and now have to relearn how to do a lit review on a topic that is getting more and more foreign to me as the drafts go in and the weeks pass by. I am terribly frightened that it is almost midterm and this thing is not defended. Heck, it's not even been seen by the other two readers.
Alas, call me a fifth year, cuz I ain't goin' nowhere any time soon.

Thanks, Susie, Lori, and Jeff for lending me copies of yours. I really appreciate it. Susie, I actually learned a lot about some bad habits I got into my first quarter at CWU from reading your proposal. I learned a lot. Thnx.
So about this time next semester, I'm sure you'll probably get another rant from me on this subject. : )

Bad habits? Not you!!! I can't think of anything my proposal would have discussed that could possibly have to do with you.

My proposal was all about bad habits too!
Oh, no wait...it was the product of bad habits.
Much as it sucks, there's this nagging sort of just-do-it-ness to the damn proposal.
The whole process made me nuts cause I was trying to get the thing written while preparing applications...writing the diss prop was, in other words, the very last thing I thought I needed to be doing at that moment. But then I probably would have thought that no matter what was going on in my life.
My sympathies to you all!
