Weeds

Ahhh! Is anyone else watching Weeds?!?!? Its blowing our minds and we need to debrief. Let us know.

In other news we had another bat in the dining room last night, so now we are waiting for the exterminator to come. Apparently bats are an protected species in New York and if they are nesting in our house we aren't supposed to mess with them. Now I am all for protecting endangered animals, but only when they are outside. As far as I'm concerned, it's open season on anything living in house.

We'll keep you posted.

I want to watch WEEDS, but I'm sadly without cable. If I could only persuade Nikki and Brian to watch it with me...

UUGH! I saw an ad for the new season on one of my daily blogs this morning and cringed...looks like I'll have to get HBO (or is it showtime?) for a few months...I can't believe I'm not able to watch it with you guys...

I had a bat in my bathroom my first semester here. I remember coming home after a couple of beers, brushing my teeth and spotting something in the mirror. Walk over to the towels, and I say to no one in particular (because I was alone)..."that's a bat." and "that's not a bat." and "no, that's a bat, stupid."

Back to brushing my teeth...repeat above, finally freak out, call half a dozen grads who come over armed with all manner of sporting goods. Susan Stewart finally got it out for me.

Then the choice became 1. burn the house down; 2. move; 3. clean, sanitize, and paint the bathroom.

I chose 3, but I always thought 1 was the better option.

Weeds is on Show time and we as for the bats, we have hung cutrains in every open doorway and I carry a Tennis racket. Apparenty they will all fly away in a month so we've only got to worry until then. :)

    Lori,
As one of the grad students who rushed to your aid and then chickened out when I actually saw the bat, I will say that we should never have been allowed to bat hunt after drinking! FOr my part I had a broom, but Susan did all of the exterminating that day!

    Jeff:

The drinking was done on a girls' night out, so all of the grads present were women determined to prove to ourselves we could take care of our own...

Of course, the amount of screaming and squeeling was a bit over-the-top & I've no doubt that we would have put on the appearance of courage if you'd been present. :)

If memory serves, Susan got the bat out by simply picking up the towel the bat was on and moving it (past all of use, armed to the teeth with tennis rackets) to an open window.

    I did burn the towel.

    :)
