Petless Wonder No More

Yes, after 3 years of whining about not having a pet of my own, I finaly did it. With a little push from Nikki (she knows I cannot go to the Humane Society without bringing something home), I brought a cat home yesterday. His name's Tucker - it's the name he came with. I am an idiot when it comes to naming animals, and so since I didn't detest the name he was given, Tucker he will stay. Nikki and Brian call him a cross between a bobcat and a Lynx - I'll get a picture up here sometime.

So, we're still adjusting to each other, but I'm pleased to report that there have been no kitty accidents around the apt yet (one of my biggest fears is finding a surprise hidden behind a chair). I must say he's quite the cuddler and even slept on my bed the whole night last night. He's been following me around the apt, granted it's not a huge apt, but I can't leave the room without him trailing behind me. It's sweet in an annoying sort of way.

So that's that. Time to get some of the final things out of the PA Luxury Suite I shared with Suz for 2 years. I've been avoiding getting those last few items out because it makes me too sad to see the room so empty and I have to face the fact that Suz won't be there anymore. Does anyone else hear violins playing?

I'll get on the pictures soon, Lori. Any word on your Border collie?

You make it sound as though I am a bad pet influence. Offended, I am (spoken in masterful Yoda voice)

Oh no - not a bad influence! You just gave me the kick in the poo-tay that I needed. Besides, I have to justify this extravagence somehow. You're just me scapegoat! :-)

Hey, having cats kept me sane (well, kinda) in grad school. You need to have someone to bitch about you day to whoe won't try to one-up you. ;)

I agree - I have to confess that I like coming home knowing he's here. Something about another living being in the apt. that makes it more of a home. Houseplants don't count. The first weekend here again after being in Iowa with family is always the loneliest, now made only more loney by the fact that this is the first weekend where I'm really feeling the effects of people being gone (Even Nikki and Brian are visiting parents). Alas...
