Home Sweet Home?
Well, in the spirit of house-closing updates that have been going on as of late, I'm happy to report that I closed on my house last Wed. and basically busted my ass (with much help from my mom and some friends, blessedly) to get things as ready as possible. The kitchen is still a total nightmare (After spending 20-plus hours scraping off wallpaper, guess what I found underneath? Yup, more friggin' wallpaper. Hell, I tell you.), but the 3 bedrooms, the living room, and the family room are all painted, most of the hardwood floors are cleaned and treated (Thank, Rejuvenate! Who says late-night infomercials can't be useful?) and the carpet people came and put down the new family room carpeting yesterday, so I'm pretty happy with the place overall (except for that damned kitchen -- grr!). Hey, Nikki, if you read this and want my help painting when you get into the new place, just say the word -- I've got an insane amount of experience now. :)
I'm very nervous because my furniture is supposed to be arriving in my new house today, and I'm not there to supervise -- I'm here at school, theoretically doing my office hours (hey, can I help it if no one shows up?). (Since I'm reading a "pedagogy group" website, that's an okay use of my time on the university's dime, no? :) ) I left my mom in charge of the whole shebang, which may or may not prove to be a fatal error. I will say that my inability to raise my mom on the phone put me in the mind of Susie and Rachel's moving issues, so I'm really twitching. :) Anyway, I'm happy to have my stuff out of storage -- I only hope it all fits.

CONGRATS!!!
Careful with the wallpaper, though. Some of the layers I scraped off my living room walls (and I got down to cave-painting level) were actually of load-bearing wallpaper.
Post some pictures of the place once your settled please. Those of us living in apartments need something to long for.

Wohoo!!!
Yeah Rho! I am sad to say that we have not made much more progress in the painting department. But we must because my bedroom wall has dolphins on it, and I am starting to dream about them!!!
Love ya
Jess

Um, I will post pics . . . if I can figure out how. (smiles shamefacedly) See, I'm not much of a blogger -- I don't really do much webbish (is that a word?) stuff. Terrible, I know.
